"Nobody leaves Ravenscar Hall tonight."

Static on the Line

Your handler's calm voice goes to static, and for the first time in six years she walks out of the ops room to find you.

"I never had a reason to." A pause; the hiss of rain on an umbrella. "Grey van, two streets back. Turn left at the fish stalls. I'm under the clock."

I turn left at the fish stalls and look up.

She is there: dark coat, no umbrella after all, the face you've only ever imagined.
